Canon or Nikon I think are about the same!. You can't go wrong with either one!. If you go with one stick to it specifically!. It'll be cheaper on you!.

I'm a Canon girl myself :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

muggawump! There is no "best" camera and whatever justification that one uses to push one brand over the other is singular to him!. Many people purchase certain brands because they don't have the confidence to make decisions for themselves!. I would suggest that you go to camera stores, not electronics dealers like Best Buy or circuit City, and go through all of the cameras that they sell!. Hold them in your hands, go through the features and see if you need all of the features that the camera has!. You can spend money quickly on this hobby and in the case of digital SLRs, your expensive purchase might be outdated before you open the box!.

The argument that Nikon or Canon is better because they have a larger lens selection is basically hogwash! Even the argument that old lenses from film SLRs can work on your new camera is hogwash!. Certainly the older lenses can work, but with diminished features necessitating the user to come up with some math formula to figure out what the adjusted focal length of the lens is on their new digital!.

Canon and Nikon glass is not any better than that of Olympus, Sony (Minolta and Zeiss), Samsung (they are using Schneider), Panasonic (uses Leica) (and Leica's lenses for the Panasonic will give you full function on an Olympus)!.

Since your camera will be quickly outdated because of advances in technology, the best thing to do is to purchase a camera that has the features thatyou want right now + some!. It is best to get a camera that fits your ability to purchase it!. Feel and comfort to your wallet should be major aspects for your decisions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

CANON!

However, my opinion is subjective, as "best" is a subjective term!.

You'll want to decide what makes a camera "the best" and then research the top camera brands for those features to decide for yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

*Best* is a relative term, lol!. Do some research - I like cnet's reviews the best because they're all geeks and super-techno, but they give you nice comparision charts, so you can decide which camera would be best for you!. Take a look:

good luck! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Canon or NikonWww@QuestionHome@Com

Get a Canon!.
They are truely the best!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read this all the time in many of the discussion forms I hang out in!. What is the best camera!? What is the best lens!? I hate to be rude here but did you even think your question thru a little bit!.!.!? Best as compared to - what!.!.!?!?!? What is it you want to take pictures of!.!.!? No one camera / lens combo can do it all, so if you want the most versatility you have to go to a body with interchangeable lenses and there are a slew of manufactures out there!. Canon and Nikon have been "rivals" for decades and one is not "better" than the other for taking - pictures!. Just as any car is not any better than the next car to get you from point A to point B!. However, it's the features IN the car that may make one better, in your opinion, than the other!. In cameras, you may want to list on paper just what it is you like to take photo's of!. You say you want a 'new' camera so you must have a old one, right!.!.!? Why is it NOT giving you want you want!.!.!? What is needed (wanted) to make the next one better!.!.!? Now, I am a Nikon fan, have been for YEARS (1969 was my 1st Nikon) and I will try to explain why!. Today I shoot high end digital, a Fuji S-5 which is based ON a Nikon digital body, a D-200!. I happen to like Fuji's color and dynamic range much better, however what I also like is the fact I can use any lens I acquired back in 1969 on this camera (as well as on most any other Nikon body)!. The lens mount on the body, called the F mount has NOT been changed since the mid 1950's when it came out!. ALL other camera manufactures have changed their lens to body mount at least once or more since THEY came out!. All your 'older' lenses were reduced to paperweights over night!. Nikon made a vow to it's dedicated followers to never mess with their mount, allowing you, the end user to have decades of equipment, used and new, to use on ANY Nikon SLR bought, ever!.!. Canon can not say or offer this!. Minolta!. Olympus or any of the others either!. What this means to you is a lens "found" at a yard sale or some back road flea market that is made to fit a Nikon will have a greater than 95% chance of fitting on YOUR camera body, if you have a Nikon!. Now, many other manufactures made F mount accessories besides Nikon!. There is Vivitar!. Tamaron!. Sigma!. Zeiss and more!. You have bellows, extension tubes, fish eye and telephoto lenses!. Microscope and telescope adapters!. Specialty lenses as well!. 1000's of things out there that will click right on!. That alone is a good reason to at least think hard on what camera body to buy!. Again, no one make is "better" than the next and not a single camera has ever taken a picture without the person behind it having the vision - first!.!.! To buy your camera as a fashion statement, while it seems to be the norm these days, it is your vision and the needs to fulfill your vision that should be catered to and the name brand of the equipment second!. People will judge you by your images made and hanging on a wall, not by what is hanging around your neck!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
