Question: How do I get into graphic design!? Exeperiance but no education!?
I didn't do graphic design in college but over the years I have acquired enough skills in order to design two different websites (one "fun and creative" the other "proffesional, informative") and several logos, branding images,brochure editing, etc!. for the high rep university I work for!.
I have also done free work with several individuals in designing birth announcements, web banners, etc!.
I don't want to try and switch jobs and then end up feeling like I am drowning in a graphic design job without the proper skills!.
I have friends who went for college for graphic design and would kill to get contracts for stuff that I have been able to get through my work, just becuase I was accesible and free!.
Does my experiance make up for the education!? Or would I be suffering if I tried to get a job that had more graphic design focus to it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes experience can sub for education!. I am currently in school for graphic design, and I know some graphic designers who have immaculate skills who have choosen to not go to school!.
Spend money on text that will take you step by step!. In school, we use the Adobe Classroom In A Book series!. Teach yourself the industry standards!.
Get involved with freelance sites such as 99designs!.com and enter some contest (and get paid if you win)!. You will learn alot looking at how current designers work!.
I have been in the field 5 years prior going to graphic design school!.

without education its hard but you could apply for an internship a a company that has openings like LiveTechnology Holdings, Inc!. The pay is not great at first but with dedication and some time you can get hired full time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I'm a freelance who got a contract for full time!.
It's not impossible and I'm not grad of Graphic Design (but it's my hobby)!. You just need to be patient and be on the lookout for opportunities!.
I know more design in theory than some people I have met before (grads)!.!.!. I'm more creative also!. But I lack any other thing they learned on college!.!.!. so, it' always somewhat necessary to go back there and grab a paper so your rank goes up!.
Your abilities on this ground are not proved by papers (you just need rank from them)!. Abilities come with works, freelance, books, tutorials and whatnot!. Gather all the knowledge you have and concentrate it on your newest masterpieces!.

Experience and creativity is the key!. No matter how many diplomas you have under your belt, if I was to hire a graphic artist to , let's say , work for my firm, I would want to see something concrete!.
And this 'something' would have to appeal to my eye!. I am Editor-in-Chief for a magazine company and have an eye for artistry!.
If you catch my eye graphically, put your diplomas in the drawer!. I am not impressed!.
Art is like music, a musician can play like a robot or play with his heart!.
