Question: Between now and the end of September!?
Will there be more people posting: "i have a camera and are about to do my first wedding" or "i hired my brother/sister/friend to do our wedding shots and they are crap how can we fix them!?

I think it will be more people with new cameras as those that choose to ask amateurs surely must be to embarressed to admit they got someone that was clueless to record such an important event!?!?

Why do pros tell people to hire pros and ametueurs call pros negative for doing so!? Are amateurs just ignorant also!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i tell them to have plenty of charcoal and lighter fluid on hand for the Weber, because the bride's family is surly going to bar-b-que their tiney hiney when (not if) the pics don't turn out well!.
no mortal human being can properly shoot a wedding without some training (experience with a photographer shooting weddings for a year or two anyway), and some real in depth understanding of lighting and their cameras (that's plural as in more than one camera at the wedding with the photographer, saves having to change lenses and fiddlefart around unnecessarily)
But don't be negative, just let 'em broil their azzz!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm an amateur, and I advice people to go to a pro!. However many of the people who claim to be pros are actually worse than I am!. I can do reasonable wedding shots, but I try my best to avoid them!. It's alot of work, and pros have their shooting plan honed to perfection (I on the other hand will be sure to fumble abit)!. But the real reason I won't do weddings, even for a best friend is that I can't take the responsibility, you only get one shot!. In other types f photography there are opportunities for reshoots (they may cost a hell of alot but they can be done)!. So I only bring my camera to weddings if I know they hired a professional to cover it properly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When the camera manufacturers and camera stores all have commercials on the TV saying that "Yes, you can make professional quality prints when you buy this camera for $500" people buy into that!. They think it's easy to snap a shutter!. Well it is, but its not easy to do it right!.

I wonder what those people think that the ones who go to college actually do!. I mean, many colleges only touch on film processes!. And photoshop is its own course and major in some colleges!. But nah, I dont need to go to school, I take pertty butterfly pics!. See!?

Except the ones with the pink cameras!. Those are professional cameras!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It isn't always the case, but mostly people get what they pay for!.
So if people want to be cheap, or stupid or overambitious, it really doesn't bother me, because they deserve whatever they get!.

I just concentrate on the valuable information I get from the knowledgeable people on here, and on the fabulous images that I am often privileged to see!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i'm not sure if i understand your question, but i think that amateurs doesn't understand the art of photography for them, it's not much difference to take pictures blindly and with styles!.!. i think that's the reason why they said pros are just a waste of money!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's really quite sad, but by the time they have it figured out, the harm is done!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That scenario will happen more and more until it levels off!. The curve will climb as long as there are lots of people getting their first dSLR!.

Lately I have seen several "professional photographer" websites that are filled with snapshots!. One girl's pet "portrait" section had a dozen pictures of cats, all obviously snapped at the same time out in the yard with no planning, with every one out of focus!. Every one!. Her people portraits and senior section had photos in harsh sunlight with no fill flash and zero posing or compositional skills!. Her font has butterflies where a dot should be!. (Like a dotted i) She is advertising for $500 weddings!. Scary thing is, she has a booking calendar with some dates reserved!. Do the couples get what they deserve!? They saw the work on her site!. They must think she is worth $500!.

Part of the problem is fewer people recognize good photography when they see it!. Their minds have been numbed by the sheer proliferation of myspace type photos shot with digicams and highly processed to hide the most glaring flaws!. So any snap must look good in comparison!.

I don't have a problem with amateurs, especially those who have been shooting a while, taking on a wedding for a friend who has a short budget!. It's how many folks (including myself) got a start in wedding photography!. In those cases, I try to offer helpful advice, albeit with a dose of caution!. It's the people who say, "I'm starting a wedding photography business!. What equipment do I need!?/How much should I charge!?/Do I need a flash or is the built in enough!?/Is my Powershot a good camera for that!?/What should I name it!? etc etc etc that get my panties in a wad!. Because you know if they have to ask questions like that then they're not ready to shoot for pay, or even for free most likely!. When that is pointed out to them, the answerer is berated for being "rude"!. Go figure!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
