Question: Getting into photography but sont know what camera!?
I have been looking into getting a D80 or the D300 from nikon!. I love the D300 because of the 12!.1 mega pixels but i dont know if it would be worth it to me being a beginer photographer and all!. The only thing that worries me about the D80 is it being only 10 mega pixels!. Would i be able to make poster size prints from that like about a 24x30!? And still have the image come out clear as a bell!? I have read some info on both and feel that me being the amature that i am it would be in my best interest to start with the D80 and once i move out of auto mode then to step up to the D300 or what ever is new at the time!. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If this is your first SLR I would go with the D40 or the D60!. They are much easier to learn on and will provide you with equivalent image quality if you are using the same lens!.

Contrary to what many people believe the camera body is not nearly as important as the lens you choose!. While the D80 and D300 are wonderful cameras with many advanced features if you don't know how to use them they are a waste of your money!.
Buy either the D40 or the D60 and spend the extra money on a top quality lens or two!. When you are more experienced and can appreciate the advanced features you can upgrade the camera!. The lenses you bought will all fit on the new camera and will last for decades!.

A note on mega pixels!. While most people believe that more is always better this is not necessarily the case!. The four components of a digital camera that make for image quality are in order of importance!.

Optics: The better the lens the better the quality!.

Digital to analog converter: SLR's have the best

Sensor size: SLR image sensors are about 15 times larger than point and shoot cameras!. This is why a 6mp slr will take a much better image than a 10mp point and shoot!.

Mega pixels: All SLR's have enough MP to make good quality poster size prints!. When camera companies increase the mega pixels on a camera they do not increase the size of the sensor!. This means that the pixels are smaller!. Smaller pixels increase the amount of noise in a photograph!.

Bottom line is that even the 6mp D40 has more than enough mp to do what you need!. If you want something a bit more go for the D60!.

You can also look at the Canon XTi or XSI!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you can use any beginner digital camera!. i am also into photography and i have a CANON A-460 model!. its okay for me with several useful features!. this is the only model i can have for the moment because i dont have much money!. i use it regularly!. 5!.0 mega-pixel with 4x zoom!. pictures are so clear
