Hoya is an excellent brand!.

You may be using the filter incorrectly!. You need to have the sun behind you!. If you make a "gun" with you hand (all fingers closed, except for thumb and forefinger) and point your thumb toward the sun!. While still pointing your thumb at the sun, move your thumb in an arc from the horizon, up to the sky, and back to the horizon!. The area you just traced in the sky is where your polarizer will have the most effect!. When looking through the viewfinder of the camera, rotate the filter on the front of the lens, in the opposite direction of the how you screwed it on the lens (so it doesn't accidentally fall off the lens) and you will see the difference!. It also increases the saturation!. And you will see more of effect at 28mm or wide angle!. You will not see much of an effect with a zoom!. They are mainly used for landscape, to take the reflection out of water, and to increase saturation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go outside on a sunny, partly cloudy day and point the camera at the sky while keeping the sun at your shoulder!.

Then rotate the front of the polarizer!. The color of the blue sky will deepen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What have you been using it for!? It should make the sky bluer and help with reflections in glass!. Hoya is a great brand for filters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
