Question: Help! do you need to prime a canvas before using oil pastels!?
i seem to be encountering a problem of blotchiness and it is hard to blend the colours on my canvas!. the canvas is a ready made one already fitted to a frame!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have 2-4-1, my G/F & I both paint, I use amulti media, I prepair my canvas with U!.P!.V!.A & white emulsion mixed & watered down! Hello this is Bird, I use a clear oil base, I sell more work than he does my work is realistic, his work is Vivid, find your own style but always prime the canvas!Www@QuestionHome@Com

since it is a ready made canvas you may want to check that it isnt already primed, even so you could do a white base of a couple of coats of acrylic paint!.
however i wasnt aware that you could use pastels/oil pastels of canvas because of the coarse weeve ( which could cause the blochyness)!.
maybe you could try some heavy duty water colour paper instead!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
