The development of Popart was to use the actual ephemera of advertising !. packaging etc!., itself as a work of art!.
warhol attempted to do this in 1964 when he arranged an exhibition consisting entirely of exact facsimlies of commercial packaging repeated in large numbers!.
The supermarket is the real popular art gallery today is what the artist is suggesting!.
His series of compositions made up of identical photographs of scenes of violence and disaster, leaving one conscious only of the visual pattern which they make!.
