I have Nikon FM2!. I have, in the past, used hearing aide batteries (stupidly tried it without looking to see if it was the same type)!. But it had the same voltage, same shape, so it worked!.

Silver oxide batteries don't have the same voltage, and so won't work correctly!.

The best direct replacement for the mercuric oxide batteries is a zinc-air cell!. These have both the same voltage and same discharge curve, so they operate the meter very well!. The only downside is that they have a life of only 1-6 months once the tab is pulled!.

There are two forms in which to use zinc-air batteries!.

The first is from the Wein company, and is a zinc-air cell which is the same size and shape as a type 675 cell!. Since 675s are predominantly a camera battery, you'll need to go to a camera store(whether real or online) to get one!. They're also rather expensive!.

The second option is type 625 hearing aide batteries, readily available at most any drug store, grocery store, etc!., and generally at a good price!. 625s are aproximately the same thickness as 675s, but smaller in diameter(they lack the lip that gives 675s their flying saucer shape)!.

On my Canon cameras, I can just drop in a 625 battery, and it works fine!. I don't know Konicas well enough, though, to say whether or not this will work!.

If you can't simply drop a 625 in the battery compartment, you'll need to visit the local hardware store with your camera and a battery in hand!. Locate an O-ring which will take up the space, and you'll be fine to go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are some replacement batteries for all the cameras (and light meters) that used those batteries!.

There are some places that sell the replacements on line, but you will have to search for the ones closest to you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The good old LR44!. That's the equivalent alkaline cell!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
