A camera is attached to it so that it won't vibrate at all, so that the user can take long exposure shots without them being blurry!. They're extremely useful!. When you take geometry, you'll learn why they're tripods, not quadpods or such!. Three points is the minimum amount of points to select an area on a plane (for now, the ground)!. Just to demonstrate this (it'll make sense, I promise) find a chair in your house that wobbles!. Really any chair with four or more legs wobbles!. Try to wobble a three-legged stool!. You can't do it, can you!?
