Keep your shutter open for longer, and you MUST have it on a tripod!. Its hard to determine where it is going to strike next, but try your best!. I live where there is no lightning, but last time I photographed some in Kansas, I parked in a field about 15 miles from the storm!. I put my camera on my tripod, and set everything up manually!. I had a shutter speed of 2!.5 seconds, and pointed the camera at where the action was!. I got some really cool shots, and some really bad ones!. Nature is a guessing game!. Good luck!
