Question: Oil Colors!?!?!?!?!?!?
I accidently bought oil colors instead of acrylic paint, don't ask how! I generally work with watercolors, I am used to fluid not goopy chalkiness!. Do I need to buy something to go with these oils because I don't understand how they work at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

oils are a bit thicker to use, you can use them as is, if yours are heavier than normal, which should be at least smooth, not chalky, they may be old, although some oils like flaky and zinc white are chalky, titanium white is smooth, so test others colors,

you can use medium to thin with, or turpentine, linseed oil, and paint thinner, there are thinners that are scented and scentless, possibly avoid thinners cause of that they tend to flatten luster for oils when dry, but still keep air circulating, try not to get paints and thinners on skin, have a good set of brushes for oil/acrylic to use and try palette knife for mixing and painting, water color brushes are not stiff enough, and have fun,?

Start thin and build it up!.!.!.!.washes are a great way to start, by blocking in areas of your imagery!.!.!.then slowly building on those (u do need to let the washes dry tho)!.!.!.again variety of techniques!.!.!.also never hurts to take a class if you find you like it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use turpenoid (smells a lot less) and liquin to thin the paint where needed!. I suggest taking a class, either at a local craft store, adult school, or parks and rec center!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
