Any clay can be fired in a kiln!. The clay properties itself will determin its usefullness or usability!. The main desired caracteristic to look for if you are digging it out of the ground is "plasticity"!. To determin premium quality of plasticity roll a piece out as thick as your finger and as long and bend it into a circle, observe for cracks appearing on the outside of the clay circle, if no cracks it would be possible to throw on a wheel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It has to be really dry and there can't be air bubbles because this will cause it to explode in the kiln, which it just sucks when your piece explodes in the kiln!Www@QuestionHome@Com

make sure you knead it alot i think that helps but im not sure!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It should have low shrinkage and expansion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
