This is an excellent opportunity to explain to the children how painting a portrait used to be a substitute of photography in those days and how painters were important people as they were the 'photographers' of that time!. Have the children draw a portrait of each other!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

do like mr!. potato head thing with the mona lisa!. have the basic mona lisa face outline on paper for all the students but then get a punch of different kinds of eyes and noses and lips/smiles and ears to paste on her!. and maybe different stuff for hair to glue on her head!. so you could see all the different mona lisa creations they could come up with!. have enough variety but limit the supplies so everybody makes smething different out o the same things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like Stacey's answer, but you can also use magazine clippings, or if they like to draw!.!.!. let them try "portraits" of each other!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should have each student make a mosaic or collage type deal!. They should draw a basic image and then try to have all of the cut-outs fit within their drawn image!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

cut the picture into puzzle pieces and have them put it together and decorate her with googley eyes, feathers, etc!. Maybe!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have them draw a "portrait" of the teacher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
