Question: Is it possible to de-oxidize the Statue of Liberty so the copper would become shiny again!?

yep, I'm not sure what year, but they did give her a scrub and she was bright copper bronze color!. It wasn't long before she oxidized again, so I think they decided it wasnt' really worth the scrub down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A whole lot of salt and vinegar!

They could probably sand blast the patina off so that the shiny copper shows!. But that would take a whole lot of time and money!. Besides, the whole point of using copper is for the nice green patina!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess it is technically possible, but it was designed to be green!. The patina actually protects the metal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's isn't easy being green!. They could polish it and then spray on a weather proof coating!. You might be one of the very few that cares though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
