do i need photoshop or another program

photoshop would work, make it in black and white, and then you print it out, and then use watercolors to paint over it, photocopy that and edit it!. You need to know how to use masks in photoshop!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Photoshop can do this, but you can use a free program like The Gimp to do it as well!.

If you use photoshop you can go to the layers palette!. Click on "New fill or adjustment layer" then click black and white"!. Then turn off the visibility of the black & white adjustment layer so that just the original image is showing!. Then you can select what pieces of the image you want the be in color!. After that turn the visibility of your adjustment layer back on and grab the paintbrush tool with the opacity set to 0%, make sure you're targeting the layer mask!. Then you can just paint away the black and white leaving the color!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you can do this in Gimp, haven't looked!. In Photoshop, Make a duplicate layer!. Desaturate it (just the layer)!. Then either erase the bits you want to show in colour, or use the History brush!.

If you need a really precise edge, you can use the appropriate selection technique first and keep the selection active, so only the parts within it will be erased or set back to the history state!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
