i think it's art when it's not done simply for tagging purposes!.

i'm probably in the minority as far as viewing it as vandalism!. now, i did live in a home for a while that constantly drew graffiti on the fence just based on the location!. i'd paint over the ugly stuff but leave the stuff i liked!. eventually, the taggers figured it out and stopped tagging the fence and the really gifted ones kept coming back!. i, personally, didn't mind it at all!.!.!.actually quite the opposite!. the rest of the neighborhood complained, though, so i had to paint the whole thing over each time!. [sigh]

my son and i live in an area with lots and lots of trains, and we both really look forward to being stopped by them so we can check out the art!. some of it is absolutely amazing! especially when you consider the conditions that it is done under, and the materials that they use!. it's just great!.

i'd love to have a concrete floor in my house that i could have somebody come in and graffiti over!. i wouldn't want it on my walls because it would compete with my own art!. LOL!.

I think some 'graffiti' is pure vandalism - the types that take about 2 seconds!. Though when people spend time and make it look good i think that is when it becomes art!.

However, whether it is vandalism or not depends on where they graffiti!. If it's on someone elses property who has not asked for it to be there, then i think it's wrong whether it is art or not!. I paint and if i painted on someone's property, whether it looks good or not is still considered to be vandalism!. But, you can get some places here in the UK that i know of where the walls are there specifically for people to graffiti on - i think this is definitely the right way of doing it because it's legal and there for people to enjoy and not wash away!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree it's vandalism if done on other's ;property!. It's artistic expression, and called street art if done with permission or by commission (payment) - legally!. Keith Haring is a good example of street art that's not vandalism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it is both too!
it is nice art if it is in an area where it is alowd
!.!.like my friend got a graffiti artist do pretty much grafiti her walls! and it looks AMAZING!!!!!!

It is art if it is done without destroying someone else's property and is sanctioned!.
It is vandalism if it is done, without permission, on another's property!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
