blur is controlled by your focal length!.

The suggestion of going to a local store and trying is a great suggestion!. Most cameras if you have lots of light and you zoom it out to the max onto your subject you'll get a nice blurred background!. It also depends on how far your background and foreground subjects are!.

The wider the aperture, the greater the blur (that's why if you want to include more of your subject in focus at different distances, you want to have a higher f-stop)!. Not all point and shoot cameras can do this!. It all depends on the aperture range!. The A590 IS has a maximum aperture of f/2!.6 (W) - f/5!.5 (T)!. That's actually not too bad!. You can also use the macro mode in it to create a blurred background!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

a lot of point and shoot cameras offer the background blur!. there's a chance your current camera does it to!. set the settings to portrait or close up then on get your target set on the brackets firmly and when the camera has detected the target object it will blur the background!. If your camera has portrait and/or macro then the background blur is available for use!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You'll just have to go to your local camera store and ask to have a look at the camera!. They'll show you the settings and whatnot so you can test it there and then to see if it'll do the job!.
Good luck on getting a camera :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can blur the background simply by uploading the picture to your computer and using any photoshop like tool, i would reccomend the program GIMP simply because it is free and powerful!.
