Question: Signed up for a painting class above my difficulty level!?
Oh no! I just realized the class I signed up for is an intermediate to advanced class!.!.!.I HAVE NEVER PAINTED BEFORE, other than a little bit in my high school art class and a college I took classes at summers ago!. I am now very nervous what if I don't know what I'm doing and other people do!? Has anyone taken an advanced painting class and did our instructor do little to no advising!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Getting nervous won't change anything!.
You might be better than you think!. Most beginners classes are to teach them how to hold a brush, how to open a tube of paint and how to clean a brush!.
You likely already know about colour mixing, perspective and composition!.

It sounds like the worst thing that can happen to you is you get to learn things you did not already know!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I partly agree with both the previous answers!. I would say also, yes, try to talk to your instructor about your doubt about your level of previous experience, and also ask what is covered at both levels of the classes!. However if you have done some classes before, you may not be a complete beginner, and you may find the intermediate class more interesting and inspiring, and maybe better taught because the students might be more committed, and you might pick up some interesting tips from them!.
I agree either way though, please don't get nervous, art is very subjective and there isn't really any right or wrong in it, so just enjoy it!. You can always have a practice before the course starts, and you can look up a bit of information to catch up on the basics!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would change to a beginner class, because knowing your materials and understanding the basic concepts are so important, especially if it is oil painting!. If watercolor, they will assume you know certain procedures and may or may not be willing to spend the time to make you comfortable!. If it's too late to change, then I would go in early to the first class and talk to the instructor!. Some are more helpful than others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
