Yeah , but that's cuz you mostly see it applied to poorly taken images , though i think these are amazing shots and they have selective coloring in them :

Maybe its overrated when it comes to "myspace pics" or whatever, but!.!.
If its real photography, real art, and its used correctly, then I think its just fine!. Yeah a lot of people do it, so what!?

I used selective coloring on a portrait I did recently and it turned out to be really effective!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Over rated!? I would say more over used, abused, overdone and made to look cheaper that Britney by 99% of those attempting the "art"

Yes, in a way!. Selective coloring is a trend who's heyday has passed!. I do like the technique, and have brides who want it!. I think it has to be the right photo for it to look good, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
