Question: Need your inputs!!?
I am trying to look for a photographer in Ventura County, CA that can take glamour/headshots for my work portfolio in make-up artistry and hair design(i'm not a model, I do the hair and make up)!.
I can provide the models but the photographer would need to have their own equipment!.(camera, film, photo paper, printer, all that good stuff)
About how much would a reasonable pay rate be for hiring this photographer!?(i don't want to get hosed! lol)
I'd prolly have about 10 looks
and hopefully get the RIGHT picture in about 10 shots!. is this even reasonable!?(i'm not a photographer so I wouldnt know)!.
Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have a ton of Brooks students just down the road on the way to Ojai (the old Mill School)!. Put your card in the student store and you will have some success!. They are required to supply all their equipment which include film as well as digital camera

I teamed up with a local MUA about two years ago!. We sell packages of glamour shots to women that are just starting to get a few wrinkles and want some "hot" shots before all their smoking takes too big a toll on their skin

For what you want expect to pay $150 and up!. Brooks is expensive, digital cameras are expensive and gas is expensive!.

Depending upon the model, you will see your photographer shoot from 100 to 200 shots depending upon how well they work together!. Later, when the model and photographer are comfortable working with each other, they can get great "keeper" shots in far less time!.

What you are paying for is not the number of photos taken, but for the time and expertise of the photographer!. Brookies will have the expertise to properly expose film and sensors after their first term or they are kicked out of school!.

Out of the 65 starting students in my class, only 24 were in the second term with me!. You learn or you are goneWww@QuestionHome@Com

I strongly suggest contacting reputable photographers in your area (use the Yellow Pages, to an on-line search, and get recommendations from friends)!.

You may ask them to offer the prints to your models for a fee in exchange for a discount on the photo session!.
The photographer will determine how many pictures to take and will probably want to set up a portable studio where you work!. If the photographer has a studio, you may set up your make-up sessions there and save the travel expense!.

Since Ventura is so close to Sana Barbara, there are many students from Brooks Institute of Photography that may jump at the chance to do a "trade out" (their photography for the right to use your models for their portfolio)!. If this is the case, you would be able to get the session done for very little if any money at all!. Contact the school!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
