I am shadowing/trying to pass initiation lol, I have a wedding I have to go to this weekend and I'm supposed to take some candid shots of the pre ceremony at the house and what not!. Anyways, it's a full day the pre ceremony, the ceremony, the reception!.!.!.I've never shot at a wedding before, i wanted to know what it was like!. I'm nervous now that it's the day before!.
Any ideas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I always like to get some shots of the bride getting made-up & dressed!. The best thing I can tell you is watch the kids!. They will give you the most unrestrained behavior & have the most natural smiles & watch the people around the kids, they will have their guard down so it is an ideal moment to get some candid shots!. BE FLEXIBLE, literally, if you need to lie down on the ground to get a shot, do it!. Do NOT let the bride tell you how to do your job!. A pushy bride can ruin a wedding shoot!. After the stuffy formal shots try some fun ones, have the groomsmen pick up the bride, have her climb a tree, put them out in a snowstorm, stick them on a swing set!. ALWAYS be at the ready!. If you have an extra umbrella lamp you may want to set it up in the corner of the dance floor, this helps resolve crappy lighting & can produce some neat effects (make sure you use a slave so you can move freely!.) When I do a wedding I have 3 lenses my external flash!. This can be a lot to carry!. I take a smaller camera bag that fits 2 lenses & my flash & I can put over my shoulder & have at my hip at all times!. Don't forget to: eat before hand (not all weddings feed the help) go to the bathroom before the ceremony starts, make sure you have a ton of new batteries, make sure you have EVERYTHING you MIGHT need (even if you need to hire a friend to help carry everything!.) If you are shadowing it is a great opportunity, take note of things you don't understand & ask the photog later or during a break!. one more thing, take a breather when people are eating, nobody wants shots of wedding guests with their mouths full!.
