Question: Need help editing old scanned photos for slideshow!?
Okay, I know this is probably a dumb question but I need help with my daughter's slideshow!. I'm making a graduation show using older photos that have been scanned to a disk as well as newer ones that were taken with a digital camera!. I'm editing with photoshop elements and doing the slide show with vista movie maker!. It will be shown on a regular t!.v!. with a 26-32" screen!. (not sure about screen size yet)

My question is, what is the best size to change these images to, especially the old ones and what ppi should I have set for these!? For example: if I want them all to be 5x7 should the ppi be 72, 96 or something else!? Or should the old ones be a different ppi than the newer digital ones!? Or am I going about this the wrong way completely!?

I just want the old photos to look at least somewhat as good as the new!. I know that's not really possible, but I don't want the old ones to look all 'noisy' with off colors!. Any help would be great as I really want this to be nice for her!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

possibly use high resolution images, 300+ when scanned, though for simple viewing , 72/ 96 will be ok, yet, you could double the size at low resolution to 10x14 at 144 , you may have to do test copy to verify proper viewing format, when burning cd/ dvd, see if theres options for tv screen size , normal or wide ratio, photoshop elements can help adjust colors and brightness, may vary from monitor to tv screen,

not clear what dvd burning program is used, if window dvd maker, you'll be ok to transfer from movie to dvd

~First of all if the TV is Hi-Def then you need to find out what resolution it's going to be!. If you can't then I would say you'll be fine if you make them 150dpi or smaller!.
Or If its just a regular screen or projector then you can make your images any resolution as long as it's not lower than 72dpi!.
also when you make the final video make sure you make your frame big enough to fit the screen or else it will not look any good!.~Www@QuestionHome@Com

With my art back ground, I would do all the photos as black and white and touch up as much as taste and skill dictates!.

This is an easy way to make the old meet the new in a happy medium!.

As for as sizing, let the photo dictate the size, and don't go too large on the older photos unless they are from 35mm negs!.

You may or may not know about the beauty of black and white photography, so here is a link to some of my work

The old store was a simple black and white!.

The pump was a tinted black and white, tinted, so as to give it an older look
