Question: In photography, what is classified as a fashion shoot, and when does it become a glamour shoot!?

I recently undertook a photo shoot where the models wore dresses, jeans etc but for one set a model was in a bra and jeans - is that fashion or glamour!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fashion shoots photograph clothes, glamour shoots photograph women!. If the clothes are the main subject then it's a fashion shot, if the clothes (if any) are secondary it's a glamour shot!.

In fashion the focus is on the wardrobe - the model is there to make the clothes look good!.

In glamor the focus is on the model - the clothes (or lack of) are there to make the model look good!.

Fashion is selling a brand or lifestyle!. Glamor is selling sex!.

Note: Fashion photography can involve a lot of nudity and glamor can involve no bare T & A at all, so that really isn't a good basis for a definition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's a very hard thing to define and it depends on many things, including the eye of the beholder!. The pose, the 'suggestion', any props, all have an effect, but what some would call fashion some would call glamour!. It may sound like a cop-out, but I don't think you'll find a hard and fast definition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
