Question: How much should I pay for a mural on the wall of my room!?
I'm thinking of asking my friend, who is a freelance artist, to draw a mural on one of the walls of my room (6ft x 4ft)!. He does these wonderful pencil drawings of faeries and dwarves and that sort of magical mythical stuff, and I want something similar on my wall, not in pencil of course, but something very simple, in black and white!. How much money approximately should I offer him for this!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, having done a mural myself last summer, i feel somewhat qualified to answer this!. It was my first mural and i was doing all four walls of a room!. I was young but (i don't want to sound full of myself, but I'm certain i will) i showed the family my portfolio and they were impressed!. So they offered me $500!. That's kind of low (actually pretty darn low) for a mural but it's more money than I've ever had, so i was thrilled!.
When i finished the family was so impressed that they gave me a $300 dollar raise!.
So, with that in mind, i suggest to you that you ask the artist what they think is an appropriate asking price for their expertise!. If it's too high for your taste, negotiate, I'm sure (especially if he's a friend), he'd be glad to compromise!. Then offer to buy all the supplies for him, artists greatly appreciate that kind of thing!. Just ask him to buy everything he needs and reimburse him when he brings you a receipt!.
Then at the end, if you're really impressed with the job he's done, give him a healthy tip!
Artists love this kind of stuff, don't underestimate the enthusiam you're likely to recieve!Www@QuestionHome@Com
