Just do it!.

You will need some education in photography so you can later get a job as a staffer or as an assistant to a successful pro in your field of interest!. Since you will be starting out using a 35 mm SLR, look for a recent (less than 20 years old) Nikon or Canon SLR for under $200 with lens on craigslist in a city near you!.

After about five years, you may want to go out on your own, but buy then you will have all the skills both in photography and business to do that!. In the mean time, you can contact SCORE in your area and talk to them about your dream and they can help you find free consultants and get you started on a business and marketing plan!. Revise these as you go through school and start working as a photographer for someone!.

Good luck and send us a link to some of your work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's never too late to do anything you set your mind to!. Photography is like anything else, you get from it what you put into it!. It's a lot like stepping off an edge with your eyes closed!. You don't know whether it's a thousand foot drop off a cliff, or a 6 inch drop off the curb unless you open your eyes and see where you're headed!. Being passionate about something doesn't always mean you'll be successful or any good at it!. You may find that you suck at being a photographer even though you enjoy doing it because being a photographer is about more than what is done behind the lens!. There are many people who decide to become a photographer because they love it, or it is their hobby!. They figure the transition will not be difficult!. And it is the lack of attention to detail that causes failure!. I'd say if you understood that fact, and you decide that despite the inherent risk of failure it's still something you are prepared to commit to, your age is irrelevant!. You won't know if you will succeed unless you try and in the end there is no shame in exploring the possibilities!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just think about this though!. When you turn your hobby into your work, it changes things!. It becomes dead serious then and you rely on it for your bread and butter!. It is no longer just for fun!. It is now your job and competition is feirce!. In fact, there will be times when it is not fun at all!. If you think you can handle that, go for it!. If not, keep it as your hobby!.
I don't mean to discourage you by saying that, just want to give you a reality check!.

Of course you are not too old! I think it was Dear Abby who used to say, "How old will you be if you DON'T do it!?" I say go for it if it is your passion, especially if it is financially feasible!. Best wishes!
