Question: College Degree vs Natural Talent!?
I have a natural talent for animation, and when I draw and animate, it's like the only thing that pulls me together!. Like I'm usually distracted all the time! Like when I study, even when my parents made me study in this little white cubicle with no visible doors from the inside, I still found myself distracted by something!. And when I draw, all my attention is on one thing it's amazing! And my dad told me that as long as I have passion a degree won't matter and look at Bill gates and blah blah, and I read a book on getting a job and I read that "In animation, if I had to choose between someone with no degree but with talent, and a degree with no talent, obviously I'd choose the one with the talent" and my mom said that without a degree life will go no where!. I've got the talent! I just know it, it's like the only thing that makes sense to me!. And the thing is, I'm not even sure if I'm meant for college like everyone else, but I just want to know, who is right!? My mom or my dad!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Natural talent counts for a lot!. My belief is that if you don't use it you lose it!. Or at least you become less proficient!. Alternatively, practice makes perfect!. so I think you should not stop doing animations!.

However, I also believe in education!.

I think the best thing I can tell you is what i would do myself!.!.!.which is either
1!. Continue doing animations and do part time college or classes OR
2!. Go to college and study animation that way you get some practice!. Remember you can have two majors!. One can be Graphic Design, or whatever they call animations!. And the other can be something more traditional that you like!. NOt necessarily though!.!.!.!.

But on another note!. Parents typically have one worry!. That their children can take care of themselves in the event of their timely or untimely demise!. So i don't think it's a matter of them not wanting you to do animations!. But rather not wanting you to do something that's uncertain!. But passion is important so don't throw away your dream!. Just have a back up plan!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pursuing a degree will help you cultivate your talent!. Plus, if you hate it, drop out!. Try a community college first so you don't waste your parents' money on hefty tuition!. Unless you think it would be worth it!. Check out collegeboard!.com and princetonreview!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com

Talent is great by itself, and skill is great by itself!.!.!.but talent and skill together are better than either separate!.

I think you should go to school, you can increase your skill and make use of your talent and apply it to what you learn!.

also, I personally am going to go to college for art and the prospect of taking classes all day relating to art is extremely exciting!. I have a feeling you might feel the same way when you think about it!. You can go to school and have all of your assignments be something you are passionate about!Www@QuestionHome@Com
