Question: Homemade Clay!?!?!?
Okay, I need to know a good recipe for homemade clay!. I know that one of the ingredients is flour, and pretty sure water is in there somewhere, but what else!? What do I need to do to make it!?
I also need to be able to bake it so that it hardens into the shape i want!.
I am making an ancient egyptian name plate thing!. So I need a hard clay surface to paint my name on!.

I don't think you mean clay!. I think you mean salt dough!. You can bake this in the oven, paint and varnish, and it will last many years!.

4 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 1 1/2 cups hot water, optional 2 tsp vegetable oil!. Mix and knead!. Model!. Bake at 400F, gas 6!. You need to check it for over-baking as I'm not sure of times!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Flour!? not sure what kind of clay your trying to make but I don't think you can make it from flour!. If you want to make a ceramic plate than you have to understand that clay goes through a process called quartz inversion wherein the clay particals essentially become crystalline (sort of) and the clay is permanently changed into ceramic!. Quartz inversion begins at temps around 1063 degrees F!. Do you have a means of firing to this temp!? If not I would suggest going to a make-your-own pottery place that has clay to use and kilns to fire it with!. heres a link to clay body recipes however: http://www!.claystation!.com/technical/gla!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
