Question: First meeting!.!.!.!.!?
okay, so i am meeting with this guy who approached me while i was drawing the other day!.!.!.!. he asked me if i would be interested in doing a patent drawing!.!.!.!.
i have a couple questions about this!.!.!.!.
please answer whatever you can, even if it is only one!.
1- i have no college education in this, and my portfolio is not competed!.!.!.!. he asked to meet me somewhere to go over my drawings!. i do have several drawings, but most are of people and i have one that is of a flower and one that i did when i was bored that is of a stapler!.!.!.!. i know that patent drawings are much different than this, how can i prove to him that i can do it!?
2-where is a good public place to meet for these kinds of things!?
3- how much do you think i should charge per drawing!?
(i've seen quotes from 40- 2,000 dollars per sheet)
and 4- should i do a drawing of something in my house like a clock or a lamp or something in the same way i would do a patent drawing and add it to my folder!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

2 - Starbucks!. Don't go anywhere private with him at first until you know he's legitimate!. Can't answer #1 but my first impression is that he picked you based on some pretty irrelevant samples!. I'm not completely convinced he is legitimate, so don't go away with him!. Tell him at Starbucks that you'll have the next meeting at his office and see if he becomes evasive!. I bet he doesn't have an office!. (No need for you really to go, you can always postpone)
3 - decide an hourly rate for yourself and multiply it by how many hours it will take to do the job right!. You can't charge top-tier prices because you don't have a background or portfolio, but don't short-change your expertise!. If the range is $40 to $2000 I'd say you should charge at least $100 per hour if you're talented enough to deliver a superior product!. I'd get some examples of a patent drawing and (1) see if you can deliver that quality and (2) see if that's the quality he has in mind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
