By all means use CD's and DVD's as back up and check them regularly but please do not use them as your only method of data storage!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not for about fifty years or so (much longer that a hard drive will last) !.!.!. some CD's claim to be archival for over 100 years!.

You just need to keep your backup discs in a safe, cool place!. What can damage the disc is letting it get scratching!. You must keep it in a case and away from "unauthorized" hands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well each time you edit a photo or burn it to a disk it does loose some resolution, also i have heard that photographs burnt on CD's DO LOOSE quality, and as a pro photographer I RE burn EACH CD at least once a year to keep its qualityWww@QuestionHome@Com
