I imagine you don't want that white around the text so I would recommend using the Fuzzy Select Tool first to delete the white!. To do this just click on the white part of the image and then hit delete!. If done correctly the white will disappear and you will see a checkerboard background!. Then simply copy and paste the text into your image!.
