Question: Is a 50mm f/1!.8 lens good for concerts!?
Someone told me that a 50mm f/1!.8 lens for my Canon Rebel XTi would probably be the easiest to get into a concert!. Is it a good lens!? Like with zoom and lighting and stuff!? 'Cause I'm not that close to the stage so I just wanna make sure before I buy it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hmm, It could work but it all depends on how close to get to the stage!. If you know you're going to be further away from the stage I would get a lens with a bigger zoom!.
and a lot of the concerts I've been to don't let me take my Canon in, so be aware of that and you might want to try contacting the venue first and asking!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

don't get a 50 unless you are close!. Although the f stop is in that range that will enable you to shoot with available light!. Basically go to camera shop and check out the rentals!. You want something with enough range prob 200 - 300 mm!. I use an L series lens 70-200 1!.2 If you want to see what the images turned out like, this was shot at the Whiskey in Hollywood, CA

You need to decide how you are going to shoot it!. I shoot without a flash and push the ISO to it's highest setting!. I set for the widest aperture = lowest F stop number 1!.2
your shutter will be way slow around 1/30 second and some of your images therefore will be blurry, so try to use a monopod to balance the camera!.

pfft why would you want to take a chance and sneak in your dslr cam into a concert!? If you cannot get up close or be in the pit, your going ot get crappy shots!. Why can't people like you respect the artists on stage!? I am a concert photographer, and I get photo/media passes for bands I want to photograph!. You can start trying to do the same thing as well!.

a 50mm 1!.4 lens would be better but only if your up close!. The best zoom lense for concerts is min!. of $1500!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no zoom in that lens at all!

Think about your kit lens if you have one (18-55mm)!. You can't get very close at all!.

You'll need to get something like the 75-300mm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, there is no zoom on that lens, it's a prime!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
