Question: Any good photographer jobs in Knoxville, TN!? I'm looking for work!.!?
Alright, well I've been searching for a decent job in Knoxville as a photographer, but to no avail!. I've tried just about every job search site there is and it's like no one even notices!. I've been shooting for over a year, and will be receiving two Associate's degrees in Photography and Graphic Design by Spring next year!. I have virtually no pro experience, but I'm only 20 and the only job experience I have is working for peanuts at my local grocery store so that I can pay my way through college!. It's crappy work, but easy money!. That's college life for ya'!. I'm ready for bigger and better things though!. So I just wanted to ask if anyone knows of any opportunities for a young guy like me in Knoxville, TN!. By the way, even if you don't live in/near the Knoxville area, I'd still appreciate your thoughts and answers!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hummm!.!.!. well the only advice I can give is to approach it like you were seeking employment in any other field!. I would not bother with the on line searching!. I would just go straight to the horse's mouth so to speak!.

Do you have a really nice portfolio of photos!? Do the photos match the type of photography studio / agency with which you will be seeking employment!?

If you have that in order, I would say just get in the Yellow Pages and start going directly to all the studios!. Walk in, portfolio in hand, and do NOT say, "I am looking for a job", or "are you hiring" or any such thing as that!. Walk in and ask to make an appointment to have some time to speak with the owner / manager!. They may ask you why!. If so just say, "I would like to show some of my portfolio and ask about any future employment"!. Someone may say, "oh we are not hiring anyone"!. Don't be dismayed by that!. Still say you would like to make an appointment!. You may even be able to speak with the manager then and there!. Now you may or may not get a job, but at least it shows determination and, hopefully, you will have an impressive portfolio that will make them at least realize they are letting talent slip through their hands!.

Simply do this at all photo studios / agencies!. Yes, it is time consuming and tiring and stressful!. But it is FAR superior to dealing with the vagueness of any on line efforts, and also much better than making a phone call!. An employer has much more respect for someone who makes the effort to actually BE there than someone who simply picks up a phone!.

Knoxville is a fairly large city, there should be plenty of places to "make your play"!. You have the skill and will soon have the credentials, but you still have to SELL yourself, and you cannot do that on line or on a phone!.

My best to you!.

what you need to do is walk into some local stores and ask if they will pay you for advertising!. You can make a website, take some pictures of the store and post it on there, and ask if they can pay you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
