This is like asking who invented the word, "tree!."

Languages developed all over the world, so, colors also developed in different parts of the world!.

In English, a color may be called green!. In Spanish, the same color would be verde!. In German, something else and in Swahili, another word, entirely!.

So, since there are hundreds, if not thousands of languaged, it is likely that there are, at least, hundreds of different words for EACH color!. In other words, there is no way one person, or even a single group of people would have gotten together to come up with a standard set of names for colors!.

There is one exeption, that I know of!. The color, mauve, I beleive was actually invented by some French chemists to use as a unique dye for fabrics!. In that case, THEY invented the name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In Spanish, for example, "anaranjado" means orange!. It is pronounced something like, "Anne ran well huh!?" That colour was named for a famous Mexican runner named Anne!.
