Do NOT put a CP over another filter!.

Why!? Because if you're shooting at the lens's widest focal range you run the risk of the stacked filters causing a vignetting effect!.

And, regardless of the angle of the sun, once you compose the shot, rotate the CP's outer ring until you can see the slightest darkening effect (it will be very slight!)!. This is the setting at which the filter is working at it's max effect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For the past 37 years I've always taken the Skylight or UV filter off when using the polarizer!.

Make sure you use a circular polarizer!. There is also a linear one but it messes with your metering and auto focus!.

A polarizer is used to darken a blue sky and to remove glare/reflections from water, glass, sand, snow and painted metal - but not polished metal!.

Maximum effect for darkening a blue sky is achieved with the sun on your shoulder!. Just pretend you're standing on the face of a clock looking at the "12"!. With the sun at "9" or "3" you'll get the darkest blue sky which makes white puffy clouds really stand out!.

A UV filter does not "pop" the sky - whatever that is supposed to mean!. A UV filter helps remove/reduce atmospheric haze (which is why they are often labeled UV/Haze filters)!. A Skylight filter removes the bluish cast seen in shadow areas!.

Heliopan, Hoya, Singh-Ray, Tiffen, B+W are all excellent brands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just want to second Jim's answer!. Never stack filters!. Sooner or later you will have a horrible vignette on your photos and you will not know why!. This is most prevalent with wider angle focal lengths, but why take the risk!? Just use one filter at a time!.

Nope!. Just attache them in series!. UV filters pop the sky; polarizing filters get rid of overhead sun glare!. I personally prefer CIRCULAR polarizer, as you can rotate it and look thru the lens for the best shot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i just mostly attach it onto the uv, sometimes i like to remove the uv depending on the shot,

whatever suits you is best
