Her name was Giaconda (probably not spelled correctly) the wife of a wealthy merchant!. The painting was still with him when he died in France!. Some art historians believe that the painting we see today was cut down on both sides of the wooden panel it is painted on!.

Leonardo liked young men as evidenced by his long time assistant Soligi (Spelling!?)!. People of Leonardo's era looked at homosexuality differently that people of our time period!.
