According to the Intellectual Property Laws of the United States, the work of any creative person is automatically protected under copyright laws as soon as the work is documented!. This documentation is as simple as writing down a music score or novel, or putting a digital photo of an artwork on your computer drive (which dates it)!.

By the time most artworks have any kind of real dollar value, they have a well recorded history of shows and/or owners, so no formal copyrighting is necessary!. You can, if you feel better about it, copyright a group (say a series, or a year's work) for the one fee!.

However, with the internet, the pictures of many protected artworks are pirated, especially in countries which do not recognize or comply with US law!. I have found my paintings posted on Russian and Japanese sites!Www@QuestionHome@Com
