Question: Romantisism, impressionism, post impressionism, fauvism!.!.!.!.!?

and surrealism

I have to find two artists that do one of the above styles in there paintings!.!.!. two that are very different from eachother!. This is an assignment for my art class!.
Now my favorite work is stuff like!.!.!. Alex Pardee's!.!.!.!. I have no idea if hed fit into any of the categories!. eyesuckink!.com

These terms don't just refer to styles, they also refer to specific periods of time in the history of art!. Not that someone can't paint a "fauvist" painting anymore, but fauvism refers to a very specific movement of art that developed in a very specific time!.

So, Alex Pardee my contain elements of these styles, but his work cannot rightfully be said to be fauvist or surrealist!. Actually, his work is called kitsch!. Kitsch is many different things!. Each class within society has its own kitsch!. The poor people decorate their homes with cheap porcelain figurines!. Rich people decorate with Jeff Koon's sculptures!. And people who think they are subversive and 'counter culture' would decorate with the crap that Alex Pardee puts out because this is the crap that the mainstream media tells you is subversive and counter-culture!. And you buy into it!. You think you are being so "cool" but really you are just falling right in line with everyone else!.
