If it's a 35mm film, you can safely remove the film after you wind it back into the cartridge!. 35mm film has a "leader," which is several inches of extra film added onto the beginning so that you can load the camera!. The actual film, which you expose to take pictures, is after the leader!. But this is only at the beginning of the film!.!.!.do NOT open the camera and expose the rest of the film or you will ruin it! If the film is still in the camera and you haven't rewound it yet, don't open the door even for a second, or you will ruin the film and lose your pictures!.

You don't need to use a dark room, just rewind the film and then you can take it out!. Once you rewind the film back into the cartridge, you can open the camera!. Or actually, all you need to do is just rewind it until the leader (the very tail end of the film) is sticking out!. Like someone else said, you'll know because you'll feel less resistance in the rewind knob, the exposure counter will stop turning backwards, etc!.

If you have to take the film out for whatever reason before you can rewind it!.!.!.like if the camera jams or something, you can do this but only in COMPLETE darkness!. You would need either a dark room, or what's called a "changing bag" which is a light tight bag with a zippered front and holes for your arms!. Normally, you would use it to develop film, but you could use it to get film out of a jammed camera!. But that rarely ever happens!.!.!.I've only ever had a camera jam once!.

But again!.!.!.normally, you just have to rewind the film and then you can take it out of the camera!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well if your going to do it personally, yes a dark room!.
some times people do it under a red light!.
but you could remove film and develop it without any pictures on it too!. its just a waste of film though!.!.!.

and one more thing: the negatives CAN'T have light touch them or they'll be exposed!. unless you want to and you could call it art!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If the film is completely reeled into the film canister, you can remove it at anytime!. If the film is not wound into the canister, you will lose any exposed film to light exposure if you do not remove it in a darkroom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just to add to the above answers, it is usually always recommended to still try to avoid extremely bright sunlight while loading / unloading film!. Even turning your body to provide some shade while removing or loading new film is better than to do it in bright sunlight!.

Remember to wind it before you take it out, but then you should be okay, just push the small button on the bottom of the body and then pull the film lever and wind it until there is no resistance!. then you should be okay=)Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think you mean where!.
if it is so, the DARK ROOM is the BEST place!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
