-ink in your pencil drawings
-shade as much as possible either with pencil if its black and white or with colour if its in colour
-add as much detail to everything as possible!. for example instead of just simply having a guy wear a shirt, make it have folds, wrinkles, multiple logos etc!.
-pay as much attention to the background and setting as you do the characters; alot of times people only work hard on the character and make a half decent background
-draw your characters in different 3D views, not just the standard front side and 3/4 views!. try doing 3/4 views with the ground tilting a few degrees!. sort of hard to explain but i guess what im getting at is try not to draw everything so "flat"
-draw the movements of various parts of characters, like if there's wind blowing show how their hair is moving along with it and if someone is running really fast or something, blur the background
-practice drawing characters and other everyday objects to increase your versatility in overall drawing and to help make everything appear as best as they canWww@QuestionHome@Com

The most important thing is foundation!. When starting a piece make sure your perspective and anatomy is working, make sure the composition is planned and dynamic!.
Use a color scheme!. Don't just choose random colors!. If you want a creepy scene use a green orange violet scheme, if you want a happy exciting image use vibrant saturated accents!. Choose your color pallet first limiting yourself to 4-5 colors at most then use variations of tones to give it more life!.
When your finished your picture take a break then come back and pay special attention to details!. Make sure there are no smudgy bits or pieces that were left out!. Stand back from your image and make sure nothing is blending in!. Like if you have light hair with a light background they might blend in too much!. A strong silhouette is always more powerful then something that gets lost in it's surroundings!.

Make sure your light source is consistent!. if everything is lit from the top left you shouldn't have any highlights on things that are facing down or right, likewise you shouldn't have any shadows on upper left things!.

If you print your work get a good quality one done at a printing house and then matt it!. make a nice frame, even if you just use black bristol board, boarders always make things look finished!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
