Question: How do you go about putting on your first art exhibit!?

I have a large compilation of paintings and I am ready to put on an exhibit but I have no idea how to begin!. can someone help!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well there are a few ways!. First of all, I would try a craft street fair in your town!. Display your art and see the reaction!. You can also go to a fine art gallery in your town and show a sample of your art of bring a photo portfolio or a digital portfolio!. Thirdly, try etsy!.com!. If you are a craft person, they will give you your own website for no charge!. You name your site, explain your craft, and upload photos of your art!. Simple as that!. They only accept artisans!. First find yourself a gallery willing to show your work!. Put your work on to a disc or as a series of slides and approach some galleries showing your type of work!. If they can't help you - ask their advice as to what venue might be interested in your work!.
You may find a gallery space which is free (like a church hall, or social club), but anywhere else - and particularly an established gallery - will probably request a fee!. If you were well known then it might be a percentage on sales!.
If you find a free venue, dont be tempted to be your own curator, you need someone else to decided what pictures go up on the wall!. And which ones dont!. It is much better to hang a dozen or so of your best paintings - perhaps on the same theme, than to have a room full of everything you have done, good, bad and indifferent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
