As family snapshots!? Fine!.
As a pro !? Not very good!.

How to make them look better:

Learn to focus
Learn about lighting!.
Learn about composition!.
Learn about setting up your shot to fill the frame with your subject!. If in doubt, apply the rule of thirds
Learn about editing techniques!.

I applaud your effort, but I suggest that you raise the bar, learn the above and not waste your enthusiasm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Starry, I applaud the fact that you enjoy photography and want to begin a career in it, but before you take a dime from anyone I would suggest you hone your craft!. What a professional photographer needs to exhibit is 1) control over the camera, 2) control over the lighting and 3) control over the subject!. This is what separates a snapshot from a professional image!. Joining a local camera club and participating in competitions might be a great way to start you on your way!. Perhaps a few classes or even exposing yourself to good work will help you improve!. You certainly seem to have the drive and that's half the battle!.

Get your work in front of strangers who are educated in this field!.!.!.!.friends , family and others who can barely focus are not dependable judges for your work!. Watch how pros pose, look at the hands, shoulders, shadows and angles and try to imitate them!.

Keep at it and I'm sure you will find yourself on a rewarding journey!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am going to be honest with you, please take it as advice to help you!.

You have MAJOR problems with light!. Your indoor "studio" shots are terrible!.!. they look no better, and in some cases worse, than what anyone can do with any camera!. You have your subjects MUCH too close to the backdrop, which looks like a cheap bed sheet!. You are obviously using on camera flash with no diffusion at all!. The light is VERY unflattering to your subjects, there is no artistic lighting of the face!.!.!. no dimension!. There are extremely hard, well defined shadows behind the subjects!. Again, it looks no better that what anyone can do!. If you are trying to promote yourself as a "professional", then you MUST be able to create photos that the average person CANNOT do!. Sorry, but photoshop gimmicks like ovals and selective color is NOT going to do it!. Many of the Children photos suffer greatly from your poor light control!. You MUST use a diffused light source, NOT harsh flash directly on your subject!. Some of the photos are also poorly focused!.

The Seniors gallery has some fairly nice shots, but you also need to work more with composition!. Too much "in the center" subject placement here!. also, all the photos are of the same person!. I would not put any "Senior" photos up until I had more variety!. All of one person just screams you have no clients or experience with seniors!.

The "Family" album is likewise very sparse!. Plus the photos really look amateurish!. Again, extremely harsh light and sharp shadows behind the subjects!.

The "Nature" gallery is probably the worse!. There is nothing here with any imagination or inspiration!. Composition is HORRIBLE!. Learn the rule of thirds!. Stop always putting your subject in the center!. Make an entire scene with the photo, not just putting one subject dead in the middle with no regard to the wasted space,,, and interest!.!.!. in the remainder of the photo!.

It is obvious you are just attempting to get a little photo business going, and that is well and good!. But to be totally frank, you really need to learn a LOT more about composition and lighting and probably invest in some true studio lights and backgrounds before you try to pursue this any farther!.

Remember, a potential client has to look at your photos and say!.!.!. WOW!.!.!. I sure CAN'T get my photos to look like that! What you have now is not even close to being anything above what most anyone can do!.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking photoshop gimmicks are going to magically make people fall all over your photos as something special!. Practically any kid with a computer now can do the exact same things you have done to many of your photos!.

Ok!.!.!. I know you probably hate me now, but you asked for advice and I gave it!. If anyone is telling you how great your photos are, they either know nothing of what GOOD photography is, or they are lying, or they don't want to hurt your feelings, or they actually have not even bothered to really look at them!.

So hold off on trying do this for money until your knowledge and equipment is better!. You definitely have potential!.!. you just need a little guidance and more time to get better plus accumulate a good portfolio!.

Work on your contrasts and your cropping!. Check your angles!. You don't have to keep using the same angles!. Shoot frim the bottom up or head down or wtv!.!.!.!.

Imagination first!.!.!.!.!.you are onot conveying your message well !. They say a pic is worth a 1000 word!.!.!. Live up to it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The website is nicely laid out but you don't have much in the galleries and what there is there is from the same shoot!. You need to have some variety!. You do seem to have a talent for taking children's photos!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Snapshots are not professional, work on lighting, if you want to learn fast go do some courses on photography!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The pictures are fine!. I do have a question about the labelling!. "Seniors"!? Now that just makes me feel old!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
