Try finger painting or dot to dot, you did say start!. But seriously, their are several mediums!. One that I most enjoy and so do many of my friends some of which are professionals and a couple of them paint movie sets for the Hollywood Studios is WATER COLOR!. I have quite a collection!. One of my very favorites (but it's not water color) is a Chinese Reversal painting done in oil on glass!. Once painted you turn the painted glass around and it is now suitable for framing!. Have fun and good-luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi,

If you don't already draw, I'd really start with drawing!.
The you may try what you feel like!.
Even more than one medium!.
What about trying a dry medium, such as pastel (soft or oil) and a wet medium, such as oil or acrylic!.
Watercolour is a medium that demands more planning and experience, in my opinion!.
Only you can conclude what mediums you like best, no one else!.

i'd start with acrylic!. liquitex has a student line of paints called basic!. it comes in pretty large tubes for pretty cheap!. the student line has less pigment in it than the 'artist' line, but its cheaper, and since your beginning, thats nice!.

if you do decide to go with acrylic, get brushes that are synthetic hair, because acrylic paint is a base and with eat away at real hair bristles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try acrylic!. Even if you make a mistake, you can paint over it!. It's great for starters!. The only thing is, is that when it dries, it becomes a different shade of the color, so be careful!. When you're a bit more experienced, try oil paint!. Looks BEAUTIFUL, but if you make a mistake, you can't paint over it!.

Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Definately water color!.
It's the easiest in terms of use and cleanup, but can produce such great scenes when you get good at it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
