How do you change the color of just one object in a picture?

Question: How do you change the color of just one object in a picture!?

if the picture is black and white, how do i make only a small area its usual color!?

The basic technique is to start with a color picture and then create a selection around the object to stay colored!. Then invert the selection and remove the color from this inverse selection!.
