Well you need to have a range of artistic work that shows off all your talents particulaly if there varied!.
Any work thats on paper is best tobe mounted on neutral coloured card i!.e!. grey/white to compliment your work!. Any big pieces that will not fit within a portfolio should be represented by good quality photographs!. also remember to include sketchbooks scrapbooks etc!.
There are also classes to help you putting to together a portfolio if you are from UK i know St Martins London does one and i think its soon and also Glasgow College of art does one too!. sorry if your not from UK!

Include 12-16 of your best pieces of work in your portfolio, give a variety of styles!.

also everyone has a website now so that is a good place to start!. I went to the Art Institute of Dallas for Graphic Design and we took 2 classes to build our portfolio!. My Site isn't anything amazing cause i built it myself and i am more of a print designer rather than a web designer but you can check it out at savannakreykes!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com
