Position:Home>Visual Arts> What u think of my sketches??Question: What u think of my sketches!?!? hey, just wondering what u guys think of my drawings, ive only just started gettin into faces and stuff, i usually do more tattoo style drawings and sketches and i have really bad pencils so the shading and stuff is kinda hard to do!.!. im 17 & want to keep practicing and maybe take up classes if im any good!.!. i like the sketchy sorta style too!.!. plz be honest lol thankss!

I'm an Art teacher and I always give this advice about ways to improve drawing!. Make sure you use the full range of tones from pure white (use a putty rubber to brighten light tones) to as dark as you can!. Decide if you are going to have your pencil strokes showing (as in cross-hatching) if you are, make them more obvious and controlled directionally) If you arn't, for really soft blending use a very soft pencil such as 8b or graphite stick!. Spending a bit on good quality drawing paper will help improve your drawing - it just takes the pencil better!. Photocopy paper and paper like that is too smooth!. Press on something, like a pad rather than a hard surface!. Again the pencil will work better!. also try drawing from life, maybe not people to start with, but just any old objects that carry light and shadow well (not a bunch of flowers!) Those classes will help you learn to (look) and (see) better, in other words, train your eye!.
