Yes, you can do very well as a realist painter and be very accomplished!.

As the previous poster said, you have to be well marketed!. Some of this you can do yourself (or have a representative for your art working for you)!. Galleries market your work (and you as an artist) as well!.!.!.!.as do exhibitions!.

Having a base of collectors and supporters of your work is very important (be it originals, reproduction prints, or licensing of your images)!.
