I too always wanted to make art my life, and for a long time didn't think I could (realistically)!. What I would say is to broaden your horizons, consider other things you're interested in, and see if any of them cross paths!.

You could certainly look into comics or illustration - I know for a long time I did!. But for instance, I also have an interests in homes and history and such, so I am in college now, putting my artistic skills to good use as an interior design student!.

If you love the clean, crisp lines of animation, and those types of medium (pencil and ink), but perhaps also like science and mechanics, you may look at being an engineer, there's lots of opportunities to draw there!. Or an architect, or even just get a design in drafting - there are people who JUST draft other people's things for a living, and get paid good money to do so!

If you truly are a creative person, and wish to pursue a creative career, go for it! But since it is a tough field to break in to, expand your options to things that would put your drawing skills to good use, and satisfy your love of it, and you may decide you really like something there as well!.

What I would recommend would be to do a personality/job profile type test!.!. if you're still in school, many schools offer them through your councilor's office!. Or you can find them online as well!. But it will evaluate your interests and personality, and give you some good advice about available jobs that might suit you!.

That's how I decided to be an interior designer - not only am I a good artist, but the test made me realize I have excellent spacial abilities - the ability to perceive spaces as a whole and imagine how they'd look grouped together!. This is something that's vital for mechanics, engineers, architects, interior designers, and the like!. I also have very good speaking and verbal skills, so I'm a natural for interacting with clients and presenting!.

I hope this suggestions will help you out in picking a course for your future - my last piece of advice to you is this: don't wait! Start working on original pieces, keep everything you do, put it together somewhere safe for a portfolio, and for heaven's sake, go straight to college! I didn't, and now I'm 26, working AND going to college (and trying to have a life on top of it all!), and it's a lot more difficult than if I had gone straight in!. So consider me the voice of experience!

Good luck to you in all your artistic endeavors - I hope you're able to find something that you enjoy and that puts those artistic skills to use!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your interests are the basis of being an illustrator, the job has a broad description with many specialisms, to fully appreciate the positions available to you, you should try to get into a college!.
Confidence and arrogance can be an acceptable trait amongst the young, a stint among your peers may reduce or temper them, but try not to lose them for a while!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well somebody is concieted!. Honestly you can't be that good if you draw cartoons and manga!. But my advice go for graphic design, most comic strips and manga are done on the computor nowadays!. That's about your only shot at getting an actual job in art!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You could be one of the people who draws cartoons for the newspapers and magazines etc!? Or just an artist in general! =DWww@QuestionHome@Com
