Question: Does it matter what camera has the best feel to it!?!?!?
Does it matter what camera has the best feel to it if you've never used a DSLR before!? I love how the Nikon has the thumb wheel; it just makes sense to me, but having no ingrained knowledge in me, I'm sure I could change to another style!.

But, I also want a camera with Image Stabilization!. But, I have two non-IS Canon lenses given to me, so I could just buy the body of a 350 and be done with it for cheaper than any other route (and have a great camera)!.

I'm so confused!. I can save money and get the Canon 350D, get the low light performance I really want want by getting an IS camera (Olympus, Sony, or Pentax), or get the one that "feels" right and get less camera than the Canon for the same price (the D40, which is the same price as the others without IS)!.

What should I do! I know the camera doesn't really matter, its the image that people see, but I want something that won't get in the way of my imagination (which is wild sometimes!.!.!.lol)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I take fantastic pictures with my Canon DSLR Rebel w/o IS!.
If using a long lens or long exposure, brace it well or use a cheap tripod or monopod!.
The motto to remember is "Do what it takes to get the shot!. Above all, take tons of shots!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally i would get a 350d body and then get more canon glass - if you go up the range in bodies you will get wheels and dials et cetera!.

If the d40 feels like you and you are happy to use kit lenses then do it!. Better still buy some decent nikkors!.
!.
If you need IS in built get any Sony body, new Zeiss lenses due for release and the big 24mp full framer end of the year they claim!. - tripods are great at IS!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

Yes, feel is one of the best gages to buy a camera!. image quaility from camera to camera are all very similar!. If the canon feels better then by all means get the canon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't let light getting into the lenses and do not feel teh lenses anymore!. You might have broken next times for a wild images!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

check for nikon D60!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you think the "thumb wheel" on the D40 feels right, then go for it!. I think trying to turn that "finger wheel" oriented in the "up" position on the Canon is awkward!. You can barely turn the wheel compared to using the thumb wheel or a finger wheel on the front fo the camera!. At least that's how it feels to MY hands!.

If you think the ergonomics of the D40 are better for you, then don't buy a camera that just doesn't feel right!. This is something that I always tell people when they ask which camera to buy!. Go to a store and pick up each camera and see which one feels right to you!. We all know that Canon and Nikon cameras will produce excellent results, but why buy the camera that feels like you will have to "make adjustments" in order to be comfortable using it!?

Of course, if you like the D40, pick up a D80 and see how nice it is to have TWO wheels!. They are so logical to use that it's a crime to make a camera with one wheel that requires you to go into the menu system to make the simplest adjustments or hold down a button while turning a wheel, which can be hard to do as well as confusing to learn!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
