14 Megapixels are in the top camera on the market at the moment!. You would have to do some searching to find the right one though, 12 is still the usual for professional photographers!.

also, the company foveon has created a prototype 16 megapixel camera!.

I have the link in sorces to both a 14, and the 16 proto in my sorces!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Mamiya I used at school last year was 22 mp and cost $20,000 just for the digital back(it attaches to a $10,000 camera with a removable film back so you can use both)
This really isn't practical in pro photography, a small amount of photographers use a camera like this!.
A camera with 10-12mp will give you great quality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Higher mega pixels is desirable to a point!. There are differing qualities to the different cameras and Pixel size is not the defining word on quality!. I have a 6+ mega pixel camera and had a 2+ camera that could take just about as good a photo!. It's the sensor that makes it better, not necessarily size!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try about 160 megapixels!. There might be more, in some government satalite, but this is about as much as you can get here on earth!.

It's called the Seitz D3!. No, not the Nikon D3!.
