Question: What digital SLR has the best image stabilizer!?
I'm looking for a good DSLR for someone like me who shakes a lot!. I'm a young guy, but I shake like a leaf on a tree, and it seems like when I start getting into lower light or if I'm indoors, it really makes a difference!. I'm a Nikon guy, but I want to know what lower-end SLR has the best image stabilizers, no matter what brand!. Thanks for the help!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For your needs Pentax ( plus Sony and Olympus) in body shake reduction would be the better option!.

Pentax claim up to four stops of advantage when using SR!.

The new in body shake reduction technology helps with every lens, not just the smaller selection of special Image Stabilized lenses!.

Nikon and Canon have the image stabilizers in the lens!. So each lens you buy will have to have IS or VR (Nikons Version)!.

I believe Sony and Pentax have it built into the camera!.

If you shake that much I would try using a monopod or tripod as much as possible!. IS is only going to do so much!. At best you will get a couple of stops in low light situations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you want a DSLR with image stabilization built in, you can skip Nikon and Canon, who have chosen to put it in the lens!. You may find this interesting, though!.!.!.

Popular Photography writer Michael McNamara has a piece about image stabilization on-line!. The two schools of thought are to either put the image stabilization technology in the lens (as Nikon, Canon and Sigma do) or in the camera (as Pentax, Olympus, Samsung and Sony do)!. He says, "So far, lens-based IS has the lead, with one Nikon VR lens logging a 3- to 4-stop improvement (a few big tele zooms barely reached 2 stops)!. In contrast, the best result from a sensor-shift DSLR is 2 to 3 stops, with the average closer to 2 stops!." Read the whole article here: http://www!.popphoto!.com/cameras/4615/ima!.!.!. There is a chart on page two that is a real eye-opener!. Far and away the best at image stabilization is the Nikon 18-200 VR lens, which shows gains of 3-to-4 stops!Www@QuestionHome@Com
